My Grandma, Ella Jay

Did not grow up near my grandmother, but I do have many memories and photos.

Grandma Ella 1963

She was unquestionably the matriarch of the family. The Queen.

She was beautiful. Forever young.

She spoiled and indulged me, but also took something of mine home with her in her suitcase after a visit.

Grandma Ella was something else; thankfully she had Grandpa, a very steady rock, to hold onto.

She was tough, resourceful and fearless. She made much of her own clothes.

She was always unique, outspoken and hilarious.

In my family, she really was the tree, and the rest of us are simply apples.

So thankful to have had her in my life.
