George Martin Advocates for Beatles Anthology 1 and Free As a Bird 1995

In November of 1995, a press conference was held for the release of Beatles Anthology 1 and the single Free As a Bird. Representing Apple and the Beatles were Derek Taylor, George Martin, Jeff Lynne and Neil Aspinall. The 400 or so reporters in attendance seemed to be skeptical of the importance of the release, and many asked some ridiculous questions. But George Martin, who had been producing Anthology, and was heavily steeped in all the tracks and choosing what to release, was well aware how historic this was. He tried to school the reporters in a very polite but authoritative way.

Here is my take.
